Madonna debuts at 7 on US Billboard Album Chart

Madonna enjoys a top ten debut this week on the American album charts.

The “Celebration” career retrospective collection debuts at a lofty #7 on the official U.S. Billboard Top Albums chart, an outstanding debut considering that U.S. radio has largely ignored the “Celebration” single, unlike other countries around the world.

Note that it was a diva-heavy debut week on the U.S. charts: In addition to Madonna’s start, Barbra Streisand debuts at #1 with “Love is the Answer” (her Ninth #1 album in the U.S., a record for solo female artists) and Mariah Carey debuts at #3 with “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” As always, Madonna keeps good company.
