Happy Birthday Hung Up
This week-end we go back in time a year ago to celebrate the release of one of Madonna’s biggest selling singles ever, Hung Up.
On October 17 2005 the song was officially released to radio and as a digital music download on iTunes.
It was Madonna’s first single ever to be released digitally online before the cd itself reached stores.
The video for the song is directed by Johan Renck and filmed on location in London (China Town, Trocadero Centre, Great Guildford Str. and London’s Underground) between October 7th and October 9th, 2005. Up til now the video is available commercially esclusively on the Japanese Tour Edition CD/DVD of “Confessions On a Dance Floor” along with a “making of” featurette. Hung Up is also the closing song of Madonna’s latest show, the Confessions Tour in which she sings an extended version of it cheering the crowd. Hung Up debuted at #1 in the UK single chart and it was Madonna’s 11th number one single in the United Kingdom. It went on to the number one spot in 43 countries worldwide including Italy, France, Germnay, Argentina, Mexico, Brazil and Japan.
