Vogue interview goes online
Style.com, the online home of Vogue and W, has been updated to showcase the Madonna cover story of the August 2005 issue of the American Vogue.
“Like A Duchess” by Hamish Bowles has been edited for Style.com and this online version of the article features a stunning 32 picture gallery that includes many images that are not featured in the printed version of the story on this month’s Vogue, including some more pictures of Ashcombe House and the Ritchie’s estate by Tim Walker and vintage b/w images of the manor at the time when it was the home of Cecil Beaton.
The notes that accompany the pictures contain some very interesting tidbits. We learn that Madonna and Guy are wearing their own riding clothes in the “horse” picture, that Beaton’s 1937 self-portrait in bed clipping newspapers was the inspiration for the picture of Madonna, Rocco, and Lourdes in an estate cottage bedroom, that Madonna and Guy were photographed by Tim Walker in the cleft of a tree where Beaton immortalized It-girl Tily Losch in a 1930s portrait, and that the very special lead gutters of the house were a builder’s surprise gift to the couple.
