| Charts: 4 Minutes goes up in the Official UK Singles Chart |
|
|
"4 Minutes" debuted in the Official UK Singles Chart straight at #7 last week and today is up two positions to #5.
This is again with downloads only as the physical single is due on April 21 in the UK (unless Warners decides to bring it forward, which would not be a bad idea - hint hint)
In the Top 50 Airplay Chart "4 Minutes" jumps from #19 to #6 with 975 plays (+411 plays, +72.87%) and a 41.55 million audience (+14.45m, +53.32%)
It is #2 in the Radio Growers Top 10 and moves up from #15 to #2 in the Radio One chart with 23 plays (+7 plays) and a 19.220 million audience (+3.534m).
"$ Minutes" is also a new entry at #23 in the Radio Two chart and moves up from #34 to #14 in the Independent Local Radio chart with 927 plays (+394 plays) and a 14.277 million audience.
Also in the UK, in the Galaxy chart "4 Minutes" goes up from #17 to #7.
The new single is also a new entry in two dance charts - the Upfront Club Breakers (#8) and the Urban Top 30 (#28)

|
|
4 Minutes debuted in the Official UK Singles Chart straight at #7, with downloads only, marking Madonna's 60th Top Ten hit in the country.
The new single also entered the airplay chart at #19. It had a total of 564 plays throughout the week and had an audience of 27.11 million.
It was the 15th most played song on Radio One with 16 plays and picked up an audience of 15.686 million there.
It was also the #1 radio grower and #3 pre-release song.
On a side note, Hung Up was a re-entry at number 183.

There's more Madonna in the end of year charts compiled by Billboard for 2007.
The Confessions Tour ranked #18 in the Top Music Video Sales for 2007.
Madonna is also featured in two of the Electronic charts of the year. She is #8 in the Top Electronic Artists list and her "Confessions On A Dance Floor is #7 in the Top Electronic Albums chart.
Speaking of dance, Madonna is also at #2 of the Hot Dance Singles Sales Artists run, thanks to her two dance hits in the list.
Unfortunately, this is also the first year Madonna doesn't make The Billboard Hot 100. With this being the final chart week of calendar year 2007, the absence of the Queen of Pop breaks a continuous run that began with her debut single in 1983.
In fact, Madonna has appeared on the Hot 100 at least one week every year until last year since "Holiday."

With no solo singles, a tour CD/DVD and the Live Earth package as the only releases for year 2008, Madonna still manages to get some neat rankings in the end of year charts compiled by Billboard.
"Jump" makes a cool #18 in the Hot Singles Sales - Issue Date: 2007 - the end of year chart for the best-selling singles. The whole list is available here.
And we have to blame the Nine Inch Nails and their "Every Day Is Exactly the Same" for not making Madonna able to top the best-selling chart for dance singles.
In Billboard's Hot Dance Singles Sales Madonna has two hits: "Jump" at #2 and "Get Together" at # 10. Check out the entire run here.

| RIAA Gold and Platinum program updates |
|
|
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) - the trade group that represents the U.S. recording industry - presented recording artist Garth Brooks with a special Career Award this month, representing his position as the new top-selling solo artist in recorded history as part of the RIAA’s Gold and Platinum program.
The award follows an audit recently completed by the Association, that determined that Brooks sold more records in the US than Elvis Presley did, and also brought updated ranks and sale data for the Gold and Platinum artists on the US market, including Madonna who is the second top female artist in the updated list. Here it is:

AMPROFON, (Asociación Mexicana de Productores de Fonogramas y Videogramas),
the Mexican association of producers has recently
certified Gold the cd+dvd release of Madonna's Confessions Tour.
Certification happened on March 14 2007 but it has been added to chart databases in the last few days.
A gold certification is for 50,000 units shipped. Other Madonna records have
received Gold and Platinum certifications in Mexico in the last few years. They are:
“Confessions On A Dance Floor” is a Platinum record with 100,000 units shipped, certified on February 27 2006
“GHV2” is Gold (75,000 units shipped) certified on December 06 2001 - old certification rules
“Music” is Gold (75,000 units shipped) certified on October 31 2000 - old certification rules
