Iconic celebrity photos on exhibition for Haiti Relief
A star-studded collection of celebrity photos featuring iconic photographs of Michael Jackson, Madonna, Angelina Jolie and Britney Spears has gone on display in New York, proceeds of which will go to Haiti relief fund.
The exhibition, titled "Snapped! From the Red Carpet to the Dark Side of Celebrity", is being held to mark the 21st anniversary of entertainment news and photo agency WENN - World Entertainment News Network, Contactmusic reported.
Snapped! showcases shots from the past two decades, including Lady GaGa with British monarch Queen Elizabeth II and Madonna in Malawi with her adopted son David Banda. The collection is also raising money for charity as all proceeds from the sales of prints will be donated to Concern Worldwide's Haitian earthquake relief efforts.
"Like everyone, we were devastated by the horrors of the recent events in Haiti and have been looking for an appropriate way in which to contribute," Lloyd Beiny, organiser of the display said. The exhibition runs at Manhattan's Chelsea Market, 75 Ninth Avenue, NYC, from January 8 through February 28, 2010.
When Madonna and Sean Penn were spotted together at a tiny New York City restaurant on Thursday, rumours swirled that the former Mr. and Mrs. Penn might be rekindling their romance.
Not so, according to Madonna's longtime publicist Liz Rosenberg, dismissing reports the pair, who divorced in 1989 after a stormy four-year marriage, lingered over a cozy, three-hour-plus dinner at Adour at the St. Regis Hotel.
"Madonna was at the St. Regis having dinner with friends," Rosenberg tells People. "Sean stopped by the table to say hello. He sat for ten minutes and then left. Madonna continued with her dinner. That's all it was."
The New York Post
runs an interesting story today on Page Six, where they report that the one and only Liz Rosenberg is said to be leaving Warner Bros. Records after 38 years because the company can no longer afford her.
Liz is not only Madonna's Validator of her entire career but also publicized other top acts as Cher, Michael Bublé, Stevie Nicks, Chrissie Hynde and Paul Simon.
It's interesting to notice that speculation says Liz may become a free agent and work for the label as a consultant - and if this happens, it could also resolve a sensible knot between Madonna, her former record company, and Live Nation.
Anyway, the best part comes again from the great Liz herself, who was asked to comment on the buzz and said:
"I don't make comments about myself, and I can't imagine where you heard that. I know that there are also rumors that I've been sleeping with George Clooney, but I'm not commenting on that, either."
Madonna attended a special screening of Tom Ford's "A Single Man" hosted by The Cinema Society and Bing at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City yesterday night, marking her return under the media spotlight after her recent trip to Brazil and a short break in Los Angeles.
The Queen of Pop was of course once again stealing the limelight as she made her way into the venue wearing a quilted black coat, towering strappy heels by Dolce & Gabbana and oversized dark shades.
Quotes on Madonna: ''Look who I am. I'm not famous but I'm going to be''
"I never saw Madonna smoking cigarettes as much as other people. She never did coke. That's why she was Madonna, why she became as big as she did: because she was always in control."
The one and only Maripol, commenting one of her iconic polaroid portraits of Madonna photographed inside Danceteria in 1983, on display at the "Who Shot Rock & Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present" exhibition organized by the Brooklyn Museum.
"The picture is talking in a way. It's saying 'Look who I am. I'm not famous but I'm going to be.' She didn't drink much but she liked her Martini. I don't think she smoked. Maybe I gave her the cigarette for attitude."

Hundreds of rare rock relics will be auctioned off this Saturday, November 21, by Julien’s Auctions at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square in New York City and online at juliensauctions.com.
Almost all of the items were obtained either from the artists themselves, their estates, or friends and family of the artists, Darren Julien told Today's Meredith Vieira Tuesday in New York, where he showed off some of the items that will go on the block during the “Music Icons” audition.
One unique item is a demo tape an unknown performer named Madonna made in 1979 to send to record companies in an attempt to get a recording contract. Accompanied by an acoustic guitar, it’s just Madonna, her music unadorned by post-production magic and elaborate orchestration.
The songs include "All My Love," "Hear Me", "Simon Says" and "Little Lost Boy," and Julien estimates the tape will bring $1,000 to $2,000, noting that the Material Girl still holds the copyrights to all the songs.
"Very, very tired but very happy as well." Stefano Gabbana briefly tweeted about the long day at the photoshoot for the new campaign with Madonna by Steven Klein. "It's really cold tonight," he added a few minutes after 8 PM local time from New York City.
"We r at the last shot... M she's simply beautiful...", he added one hour before.
The shooting took place in New York City on Friday, as M-Tribe exclusively reported last month. Designer Domenico Dolce was also on the set. Steven Klein also shot Dolce & Gabbana's male campaign on Wednesday.
''You can't just start out and collaborate with Madonna''
Madonna has a nightly grind
From the New York Post:
Madonna is prepared to grind hard to promote man-candy Jesus Luz's career. The pop superstar showed up to catch the tail end of her boyfriend's DJ gig at the DVD release party of Matt Tyrnauer's "Valentino: The Last Emperor" on the 18th floor of the Standard Hotel.
"She was grinding with a bunch of hot fashion guys while Luz spun," says a spy. "She's been tak ing a more active role in promoting him, so she stuck around for a bit and mingled before they left together (right)." Madonna has already given her Brazilian boy-toy's modeling career a push, helping him land a juicy contract with Dolce & Gabbana, although her rep insists she's "not at all involved in managing the career of Jesus Luz."
Also in attendance were Adrian Brody, Charlie Rose, Diane von Furstenberg, Martha Stewart, Marc Jacobs, Katie Lee - who was overheard discussing her new book of recipes in the elevator - and Brian Grazer and his former "culture czar" Brad Grossman.
Jesus Turns DJ
From Contactmusic:
Madonna's model boyfriend Jesus Luz is carving out a new career as a DJ.
The 23-year-old Brazilian, who has been dating the superstar since the beginning of the year, landed his first high profile gig on Wednesday night, playing for the rich and famous at a party for fashion designer Valentino.
The catwalk star took to the decks at New York's Standard Hotel, playing for a star-studded crowd including Hugh Jackman and Adrien Brody - as well his famous girlfriend, who was also in attendance.
But Luz opted not to play any Madonna tracks during his set, saying: "Sometimes I'll play something by her. But she's here tonight and she hears her own stuff almost every day."
The model also insists he won't be collaborating with his lover any time soon - he tells the New York Daily News, "There are steps! You can't just start out and collaborate with Madonna."
Following our exclusive report about Madonna shooting the Dolce & Gabbana campaign this coming Friday, news is just in from New York City that Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce left Milan earlier today and have been busy on the set of their heavily Sicily-themed Men's campaign in Brooklyn.
Madonna attends Valentino's party at the Boom Boom Room
A totally gorgeous Madonna got straight back into the New York City nightlife attending the party for Valentino's "The Last Emperor" documentary at the Boom Boom Room yesterday night.
DJ Jesus Luz was spinning at the mixing booth at the event packed with celebrities such as Adrien Brody, Stephen Daldry, Hugh Jackman, Martha Stewart, as well as designers Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Diane von Furstenberg.

Check out some cool new photos taken by M-Tribe contributor Tyler in New York City this past weekend, right across the street from the Ganesvoort Hotel in the meat-packing district.
One side of the corner features several "Celebration" covers plastered on a building facade and when you round the corner, there are two breathtaking, giant Madonna heads with hot pink paint splattered near the bottom-obviously work done by Mr. Brainwash himself.
M-Tribe contributor Matt shares a few images taken whilst on a brief visit to New York City. Matt spotted the "Celebration" artwork plastered on a wall in the West Village, just around the corner from the Magnolia Bakery.
Incidentally, the pool that you can see on top of the building in the background of the first picture is the pool as seen in an episode of Sex & The City where Samantha pretends to be a prestigious British member of the private club, only to be caught short and asked to leave - nice little bit of trivia!

Madonn and Lady Gaga continued their play catfight from "Saturday Night Live" well into Sunday. After squaring off in an SNL skit, they got into a one-on-one dance-off at SoHo hot spot Submercer at a Sunday night birthday party for Madonna's manager, Guy Oseary.
"(Deejay) Jus Ske was joking around and alternating their songs Holiday and Poker Face, and then they both started going at it," says an onlooker. "Madonna seemed to be the winner. People were going wild."
Also attending were Lenny Kravitz and Andy Samberg.
During his phone conversation with Ryan Seacrest this morning Madonna briefly mentioned some more details about the movie she wrote and that she would like to direct and that is supposed to be her main upcoming artistic project.
Madonna: Right now I've just finished writing a script and I'm trying to get financing and casting for it believe it or not...
Ryan: Would you like me to fund?
Madonna: Do you have some cash on the side? Would you like to invest in me as a filmaker?
Ryan: I would like to get closer to you, yes.
Madonna: Ok, well...
Ryan: What's the film?
Madonna: It's called "We". It's a long story, it's like two parallel love stories, and it's told from a woman's point of view obviously. One is a historical story that took place, with the Duke and Duchess of York and the other is a story I made up of a couple in New York.

In the pictures below you can see Madonna eating pizza for her skit on The Late Show with David Letterman in New York yesterday. In the scene Madonna and David Letterman eat at Angelo's Restaurant next door to the Ed Sullivan Theater.
David is also photgraphed kissing Madonna goodbye during the taping of his show, and Madonna is shown entering the Late Show studio riding on the hockey sticks of ten New York Rangers.

Finally! Proof that Madonna is just like the rest of us.
The Material Girl was snapped happily munching on a pizza - and washing it all down with martinis!
Usually a strict advocate of a macrobiotic diet, it seems the 51-year-old singer may have been having a bad day at work.
We know just how you feel Madge; a Margherita and a martini is an excellent stress buster.
But the queen of reinvention may just be pulling the wool over our eyes.
Madonna was actually photographed filming a comedy scene for The Late Show with host David Letterman.
Madge and David filmed the skit in a pizza parlour next to the show's usual studios in New York.
But even if it was all for the cameras, Madonna still looks as if she's enjoying pigging out on the carb-heavy treat.
The singer was appearing on the show to promote her latest greatest hits album, Celebration. With a new album, three kids, a toy-boy lover and two ex-husbands, who wouldn't need a piece of pizza to cope with all that!
Madonna has revealed on a US TV chat show that she will never get married again.
Appearing on David Letterman's show, the 51-year-old said she would rather be "run over by a train" than tie the knot for a third time.
The star, now divorced from film director Guy Ritchie, also admitted it was not always easy being alone.
"Being a single parent means you're kind of in charge of everything," said the singer.
She added: "You can't go 'hey, can you give the kids a bath?' There's no job sharing."
The star, who recently released her third greatest hits album called Celebration, referred to George W Bush's period as US president, joking that her eight year marriage had only lasted "the Bush years".
She then added: "It was a good time to be out of America."
During her eighth appearance on Letterman's show, Madonna revealed she had never visited a New York pizzeria.
So Letterman took the pop star - who is famous for her healthy diet and lifestyle - to a local restaurant where she was seen eating pizza.
M-Tribe Community member digitalfreaknyc went to the taping of the Late Show tonight. If you want to know all about it before the show airs check out his scoop at the MadonnaTribe Forum by clicking here.
You'll get to know that Letterman's first two jokes during tonight's episode will be about her, that "Celebration" was not the subject of their talk at all, and that from today Madonna won't be able to say she's never had a New York slice of pizza.

A fantastic "Celebration" billboard has been set up in Times Square promoting the US release of the ultimate collection of Madonna hits on September 29 and our friend Lighthouse Mike has just snapped these pictures for you showing it in its full glory. Click to zoom.
Mr. Brainwash's Madonna portrait is everywhere in the Big Apple as posters advertising the release of "Celebration" on September 29 flooded all Manhattan in just one day.
The marketing campaign for the American Celebration is so strong and the image used is so instantly iconic that they don't even need to write down what is that about. A face, a date, it's all you need to know.

"There are only a few people at MTV who have ever interviewed Madonna"- Jim Cantiello writes on MTV.com today. "And all the people who have interviewed Madonna all have a certain prestigious history with the network: Kurt Loder, John Norris, a high-level producer here and there."
"So you could imagine my surprise when, in the middle of my VMA backstage broadcast for V-Cast Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards, a dude in the press department ran up to me and said, "Dude. Madonna. Now."
"Whaaat?"
"The interview went really well. Hell, I'd even say amazingly well. I know this because Madonna's longtime press guru didn't tackle me after our chat veered into zany territory. Watching the tape back, I have to say Madonna seemed to enjoy herself. She was an amazing sport when I asked her a million questions about Lady Gaga. She shared her legendary lightning-fast wit with me. And my producer made her cackle at one point. Score!"
"But I think I might have creeped her out when I admitted I was obsessed with her 12-year-old daughter, Lourdes. In fact, I know I did. Because Madonna told me."
"In my defense, I'm not obsessed with Lourdes in any seedy way. I just find her newly-emerging public persona to be really exciting. She has a funky fashion sense and she just made an appearance in her mom's new video. It seems like Lourdes is dipping her toe into the fame pool. I meant to ask Madonna a legitimate question about Lourdes but instead what came out was, "Are you creeped out that I'm obsessed with your daughter?"
"Sorry, Madonna! I promise next time I get to interview you I'll be more prepared and ask you all about your upcoming greatest hits album. But admit it: You had fun with me, right?"
Madonna attended the Marc Jacobs Spring 2010 fashion show at the NY State Armory in New York City yesterday night, September 14.
Looking gorgeous in a black leather jacket, a lace skirt and her classic thigh-high boots from Stella McCartney, Madonna took her seat just a few moments before the first model stepped out on the runway but also spent some quality time posing together with Jacobs, model Jesus Luz and Lady Gaga, making the day for reporters, fashion bloggers, and Madonna forumers worldwide.
Madonna was sporting again the hairstyle she premiered at the VMAs on Sunday night, and looked even more glamorous than the night before.
After talking with MTV News' Jim Cantiello about her heartfelt tribute to the late Michael Jackson at the VMAs on Sunday night, Madonna also answered questions about Lady Gaga and her daughter, Lourdes.
Gaga, of course, has been frequently compared to Madonna - both musically and as an icon - and her performance at the VMAs on Sunday has been compared with Madonna's famous VMA performances.
While she didn't see Gaga's avant-garde red-carpet getup in person, Madonna did catch it on a television screen backstage.
"I just saw Lady Gaga," Madonna said with a smile. "She looks like she's going to carnival in Venice, very beautiful."
When asked if she feels at all threatened by the comparisons, Madonna said, "No, I'm very flattered."
What about Lady Gaga's escort, Kermit the Frog?
"I missed that," Madonna said. Asked if she'd ever been escorted by Kermit, she joked, "No, but I've dated some frogs."
When asked if her daughter Lourdes - who is such a big Gaga fan that she danced on a table during a Gaga concert that Madonna took her to earlier this year - is interested in show business, Madonna turned serious.
"She's got school tomorrow, so she's in the bed sleeping," she said. "I think she has an interest, but she has time - she's not even 13 yet, so give her a few more years."

Check out a short clip of Madonna interviewed by Jim Cantiello backstage after delivering her heartfelt tribute to the late Michael Jackson at the VMAs last night.
"It was extremely important because I didn't really have my chance to pay my last respects to him or speak of him in the way that I wanted to," Madonna said. "It was a privilege and an honor for me to say what I had to say.
"It took me all week to write, and I just wrote it from my heart," she added. "And I kept slashing and burning and editing."
While she did admit that she left out some choice MJ anecdotes, it was purely in the interest of time.
"I really cut it down. It was painful," she said. "I said what I had to say at the end of the day."

Madonna surprises VMAs with Michael Jackson tribute
From RollingStone.com:
What was billed as a special tribute to Michael Jackson starring his sister, Janet, turned into an even more epic performance: Madonna took the stage at tonight's MTV Video Music Awards to honor an artist she called "one of the greats."
In a long, heartfelt speech about her personal relationship to Jackson, Madonna recalled the moment she learned that he had died. "All I could think about in that moment was I had abandoned him. That we had abandoned him," she said. "That we had let this magnificent creature who had once set the world on fire slip thorugh the cracks. Most of us had turned our backs on him. … There will never be anyone like him again. He was a king."
"There's a whole lot of crotch-grabbing and Moonwalking going on in my house," she added, saying her two sons are huge MJ fans. "Long live the King!"

Madonna's tearful tribute to Michael Jackson at 2009 VMAs
The first moments of MTV's Video Music Awards are always memorable, and VMA vet Madonna certainly did not disappoint with a tearful tribute to the late King of Pop.
Here is the clip in full from the online website of MTV. Check out the complete transcript there or after the jump.
Michael Jackson, who was not only one of the most influential forces in MTV's history but also provided its Video Music Awards with some of its most irreverent moments, got reverential treatment Sunday as Madonna and his sister Janet provided emotional tributes - one through words, one through song.
Madonna kicked off the show at Radio City Music Hall with a poignant speech about her relationship with Michael Jackson, which began when she was a youngster idolizing the then-child star, then morphed into a friendship when both were at the apex of their careers, and later, grew distant.
Madonna lamented the negative publicity that dogged him in his later years.
"Sometimes, we have to lose things before we can truly appreciate them," said Madonna, dressed in black.
"Yes, Michael Jackson was a human being, but yes, he was a king," she told the celebrity-studded crowd, which included Michael's brother Jermaine and father Joe Jackson. "Long live the king."
The musical tribute began afterward, as Jackson clones dressed in some of his signature outfits recreated his famous dance moves from videos like "Bad," "Smooth Criminal" and "Thriller."
Then, as "Scream," his duet with Janet, appeared on a large screen, his sister came out to recreate the moves from their only video together as the crowd, including Beyonce, cheered her on. Afterward, she looked heavenward, and bowed.
