Exactly twenty years ago today, one of the most controversial Madonna shows ever took place in Rome, Italy.
On July 10, 1990 the Stadio Flaminio in Rome hosted the notorious "Blond Ambition" date "doomed" by the Vatican, that fans surely remember documented in the Truth or Dare film.
Actually other factors contributed to flop sales more than the silly and ridiculous protests carried on by the Vatican paper "L'osservatore Romano". Tickets going on sale just a week prior to the event combined with poor publicity and the beginning of the long summer holidays were the factors that most discouraged the general public leaving mainly die-hard fans to enjoy the event.
And here's one of the original tickets form that "controversial" night from the archive of MadonnaTribe's webmasters who were lucky to see the show that night.
The Madonna tour easily remembered as her most controversial, started in Japan on April 13 1990 during the rain season.
While the Who's That Girl tour established Madonna as the leading female artist of the Eighties, the Blond Ambition made her enter stardom in the most complete way, with that mix of adoration and extreme criticism that only true Idols deserve.
Even hardcore Madonna fans show mixed feelings considering the Blond Ambition tour either a pinnacle in her live performance career, or a concentrate of excess and useless eroticims anticipating the Sex book experience that followed two years later.
The main reason for controversy came from the way religion and sexuality were mixed in the show that Madonna herself described as a theathrical presentation of her music.

The new single comes in a classic "thick" jewel case and carries the same artwork of the European one we showed you last week and the same 8 version tracklist - the only differences being as usual the various logos and disclaimers typical of the US releases which can be found on both the back cover and the picture disc itself.

A closer look at the ''Celebration'' album on vinyl
Here's a closer look at the Celebration 4 LP set released at the end of 2009 thanks to the images shared by M-Tribe reader Amal.
An overwhelming load of Madonna imagery by Mr. Brainwash fills every single bit of the release - from the inside of the doublefold jacket to the front and back labels of the four 12" vinyls.
"Revolver" has finally been released as a digital Remixes EP in the U.S. market and is already available for download on the iTunes music store and other online retailers such as Amazon.com.
Remixers for the new single - as MadonnaTribe readers already know - include Tracy Young, Paul Van Dyk and David Guetta, the latter also providing his own treatment to the new "Celebration" version featuring Akon.
The Felguk Love Remix of "Celebration", completes the promising set.
The cover for the Remixes EP is slightly different from the one of the One Love Remix - changes are limited to the artist and song name only while the artwork remains the latest variation of the iconic portrait assembled by Mr Brainwash from images by Mondino and Tolot.
As previoulsy reported the Remixes will also be available in physical formats in the upcoming weeks - the CD Maxi will be released on January 22, 2010 and a double vinyl will follow on February 5.
Tracklisting for the Digital Single is as follows:
01 Revolver (Madonna vs. David Guetta One Love Remix) (Feat. Lil Wayne) 03:16
01 Revolver (Madonna vs. David Guetta One Love Remix) 02:59
03 Revolver (Madonna vs. David Guetta One Love Club Remix) 04:31
04 Revolver (Paul van Dyk Remix) 08:35
05 Revolver (Paul van Dyk Dub) 08:35
06 Revolver (Tracy Young's Shoot To Kill Remix) 09:24
07 Celebration (Featuring Akon) 03:54
08 Celebration (Felguk Love Remix) 06:38
Here's a closer look at the Vinyl Edition of Madonna's "Celebration" album that has been released on December 22 in the U.S. and is now available as an import in several markets abroad.
The Full Length Vinyl of the ultimate collection of Madonna's hits comes out as a deluxe vinyl package features four 120 grams black vinyl discs pressed at Record Industry presented in a two-pocket Stoughton gatefold jacket with a catalogue number of 093624972938 - 521096.
The expanded pockets contain 2 discs each pocket and the cover artwork is virtually identical to the double CD edition besides the obvious tweaks introduced by the 12" format. Interestingly the slightly bigger "Mr Brainwash" signature is not placed on the right as the publicity pictures shown but on the opposite side of the cover.
On December 9MadonnaTribe reported that Madonna's new single "Revolver" wasn't going to be released in France, with Warner Music France promoting the "Celebration" remix featuring Akon instead.
The single is out today as planned and here's the first look at the new release. As you can see the 2 track single carries the same exact cover as the first one (which carried the album version & the Oakenfold mix). The only differences are of course the back cover with the different tracklist and credits and the two logos on the disc itself ('Compact Disc' & 'Sacem' (equivalent of the IRAA here).
There's no sticker promoting the new remix and also the One Love Remix of "Revolver" is not featured as a b-side, probably saving it for the European single release next year.
Also there is no mention of David Guetta whatsoever and the production credit reads "remixed by Akon".
The newest addition to our collection of different "Celebration" pressings from around the world is the 2 CD album released on the Indian market.
Again no major difference in artwork and no difference at all in content in this "Made in India" double set, apart of course from the small print and copyright and licensing credits - worth making this item desireable to completist collectors.

Stay tuned for more Madonna CDs from India coming soon from our friend Rinat.
Here's a couple of Madonna-related tidbit shared by our longtime friend and contributor from Russia Rinat while he was travelling Qatar Airlines through Doha City in Qatar. As you can see by the images below both Madonna's new collection "Celebration" and her "Ray of Light" album were part of the on-board entertainment system and passengers had the chance to listen to the Queen of Pop during the flight.
But the most interesting news bit comes from the airport's transit zone where Rinat found the single disc edition of "Celebration" album on sale, licensed for Middle East and North Africa only to EMI Middle East. as the sticker on the front side states (while the credits on the back cover are the ones of a "regular" European pressing.
Collectors, you're been warned! Click to zoom.
