Live in Gothenburg: The two most magical nights ever!
Sticky & Sweet Tour GalleriesAnother double daily update to the MadonnaTribe Sticky & Sweet Tour Galleries today, with some amazing pictures taken at the August 8 and August 9 concerts at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden by our reader Gabriel who also has great memories to share with the Tribers!
Enjoy his story and click on any of the images below to check out the complete sets of more than 150 pictures from the shows!

Saturday 8 Aug

I met up with my friend Carola early in the morning. We queued from 9:45 AM. We heard that they played most of the songs from the arena but didn't sound like a soundcheck because nobody sang in the verse...

It was so nervous right before we got in and when we saw the stage it looked so small comparing to last year... don't know if they build it smaller or what but we ended up front row, in front of the catwalk at the left side. We had a very good spot on the catwalk and the main stage. Only bad thing was that the 4 rounded stages around the catwalk, one of them was in front of us and blocked a bit of our view.

Later around eight in the evening Paul oakenfold started. It was good and we danced but you got tired of it in the end until celebration was played and Hypnosis and Jaron Boyd danced on the stage!

At the same time Guy O walked around the catwalk and took pictures of the fans. He signed a girl's Confessions book next to us and took a picture of me in my revolver tee from Luka who does great Madonna art! It had M-dolla written on the back but I forgot to show him that. I was to happy haha! That was one of the highlights and felt so amazing!!

When Madonna camed on the stage everybody went crazy! She did faces just before she started candy shop and looked amazing!!! We saw everything so good and when human nature was on and she pointed the finger and we pointed it back to her...

In Into the Groove after she jumped the rope Sofia kissed her right bicep and so did Madonna! Dj Inferno touched her back too!
Then Holiday was on and it was so good! I loved it and Antboogie got on the stage at the end of the catwalk in front of us and I screamed "Antboogie" and he reacted and looked at me and took my hand, made me so happy! Later on in she's not me when Madonna was in front of us I screamed “WE LOVE YOUU!!!” and she turned her head back and gave me a mean bitchy look haha !

In Miles Away we all clapped our hands and sang “so far away” so loud just like in the broadcast from Buenos Aires, and we sang along thru the whole song. Later on in you must love me she had the black jacket on and had a small speech before she started singing.
During La Isla Bonita she was in front of us at the small rounded stage and tried to reach our hands and everybody went crazy in that moment. But the lady only touched a guy's fingertip haha!
“I have a special place in my heart for Sweden. Swedish people are very creative people, very sexual people, and they like to party..."
It was funny haha and during You Must Love Me she sang “you must love me... even when I play the wrong chords and everybody laughed haha! Then in the end she said you muuuuuuuust looveeeee…. And the crowd said both me and you and she said me or you? And then continued…” meee or yooouu - funny and great moment!

It seemed like the last section went down the best. The whole audience went crazy!! Frozen was to die for and during ray of light she didn't let us stand. And right before this song the audience did the “uuuah uuuah” sound and she did it too! She wanted us to jump all the time, it was hard haha!
Everybody seemed to love Give it 2 me as the last song. She got of the stage in the end of the song and we regret we didn't stand where she got of… but she camed almost to our side later and we did the give it 2 me dance the whole time and sang until she was gone!

It was an amazing night and the fact that it was in Sweden made it more special for me! We had this long discussion of how she can put up with 2 hours of dancing, singing, jumping and everything. We were dead half thru the show!

The next day 9 Aug

I slept for one and a half hour and then went back to the arena to meet up with a friend and start to queue again. I got number 27 this time. We heard Frozen and Give it 2 Me from the arena don't know if it was a soundcheck or what..
This time I wanted to be where she goes off the stage on the left side of the long catwalk and that was where I ended up !

This view was much better here! It was raining so much when they let us inside the arena. It was like the rain in Oslo and it rained so much for 2-3 hours!
Guy O didn't take many pictures of the fans because of the rain and Paul oakenfold really bored me. Paul, Charles Parks IV and Norman was on the stage dancing with Paul. Right before Madonna started the rain disappeared for the whole show!

I saw everything that was going on the main stage and was so close to it! And when she was on the catwalk I had a great view of her back!
Hypnosis pointed at me in Beat Goes On, great moment! I Saw her so good when she was dancing on the catwalk, so close!
Right before devil we could see her getting up on the piano from under the stage.
In the doli doli song the dancers made everybody at our place sang along and I mean everybody! Charles Parks IV gave a air kiss to my friend and a welcome gesture to me haha! She didn't have any speech before You Must Love Me but many people were crying during this song!

Rave section went down really good this time too! We were so freaking close I can't believe it!!! Frozen was awesome and so was like a prayer!!! And in ray of light she asked us, are you frozen?? - NOOOOO, Are you hoot? – YEEESSS! We jumped so much during ray of light again!!!

And now the best part!!!! GIVE IT 2 ME! They started to remove the things from the floor down the stage before she went down and was cleaning it!
She started at the left side taking a hat from a person and then she camed to our side and it was a once in a lifetime moment!!!
Everybody was crazy and she had the microphone in front of me and many people around me. We sang so much and jumped and I saw her hand without the white glow and touched it for a second! It was hard to reach it but I made it! I was so crazy after that!

The crowd was crazy both nights... didn't thought they would be so! This was by far the best concert of the sticky and sweet tour I've been too!!! And I had an amazing view! She had so much energy and was on fire!!! She didn't have a speech no, BUT she gave us more than that and yesterday!
And the fact that Guy O took a pic of me and posted on madonna.com and that I was face to face to her when she got off the stage and touched her made it dreamy! I will always remember this day and these two concerts! It beat last years show and the one I went to in Frankfurt and everything she has ever done for me!

Im amazed over how tiny Madonna is in real life! She looks so much bigger in photos and more muscular etc. But in real life she looks like she weighs nothing and she's so beautiful I can't believe it!!!

Thanks to Gabriel.

Live in Gothenburg: Madonna took my hat!
Sticky & Sweet Tour Galleries"We had two amazing shows in Gothenburg, Sweden" - M-Tribe contributor Pontus writes. "We went to Ullevi Stadium one day before the show on August 8th. We did't sleep until after the show on August 9th. I have so much to tell about the two shows so I don't know were start!"

"On August 8th, we stood infront of the catwalk as you can see on my pictures. It was amazing Madonna was more beautiful than ever! Her body in "Vogue"!!! Incredible. Before she sang "You Must Love Me", I gave her a kiss with my hand and she smiled back at me. Later in "Ray Of Light" she told my boyfriend that he didn't jump good. "That's not jumping"!
I've got amazing pictures too and here is a few of them that I want to share from the first show."

"On August 9th we decided to stand in front of the big stage and the catwalk. Once again the show was really amazing and I got amazing pictures.
In "Give It 2 Me" she went down he stage and stood in front of me!!! She held the mic and I sang "Give It 2 Me", I looked in her beautiful eyes and than I gave her my hat. I didn't thought she would take it but I guess she recognized me from the last night. Than she took it, she took my hat!!! I was screaming and singing at the same time."

"After the show everybody was happy for me but I was the most lucky boy in world.
Thank you Madonna."

Live in Gothenburg: Gothenburg concert review by Magnus
Sticky & Sweet TourM-Tribe Team member Magnus attended the first night of the Sticky & Sweet Tour in Gothenburg over the weekend. Here is his extensive review of his concert experience and some of the great pictures he took at the show:

"The entire event at Ullevi was very well organised! The staff did a great job avoiding unnecessary panic and chaos. Before the gates opened, they had us standing in line for the Golden Circle. We were told to walk our way in, nice and slowly. People who tried to run or push themselves forward were escorted out of the stadium and had to redo the entire procedure as punishment.

Paul Oakenfold came on stage at about 20:00 and finished his set approximately 45 minutes later. Madonna came on stage at about 21:50.

I was more or less at the front row, with just one or two people in front of me, at the very end of the catwalk. Candy Shop and Beat Goes On were not as exciting live as I thought they'd be. However, she sounded great for the most part. Actually, I was very impressed with Human Nature. After having heard alot of bootleg recordings with dodgy vocals, I wasn't expecting much, but she was actually hitting the right notes, most of the time. Vogue was also very stellar in terms of her vocal delivery. The first segment ended with the amazing Die Another Day Remix video interlude and to my surprise, the crowd knew the lyrics by heart and sang along.

Moving on to the second segment; she came on stage with a jumping rope and sang Into The Groove. It seemed to go down very well with the audience, but I personally thought the arrangement of the song was rather dull. The high energy performance of Holiday was also very well received (as was the tribute to the late Michael Jackson) although I think alot of people were expecting it to be her most recent single, Celebration, at first. The next song she performed was Dress You Up, which didn't quite work as well live as I'd hoped, despite the kick ass rock arrangement. I think the main problem with this performance was that she distanced herself from the Golden Circle and didn't make any effort to connect with the audience.

She dedicated She's Not Me to the Swedish ladies. After the line "... and make up for the things you lack", she looked at the dancer posing in the Like A Virgin outfit and said "which is a butt", which I thought was pretty funny. Music was also a total crowd pleaser, but it was followed by the not so exciting Rain Remix interlude, which felt sort of like an anti-climax.

The third segment of the show started with a cookie cutter performance of Devil Wouldn't Recognise You. It wasn't too exciting, as we hardly got to see her sing it.Spanish Lesson was another performance that did not live up to my expectations either. This particular performance seemed to be all about choreography, as she hardly looked at the audience during this performance. However, the show took a turn for the better again with Miles Away, which turned out to be yet another crowd pleaser.

Whereas the mash-up of La Isla Bonita and Lela Pala Tute worked, Doli Doli just didn't. There's nothing wrong with gypsy music, but it felt kind of pointless and awkward to watch an old man trying to pull it off while Madonna was just sitting there on the side, watching him play. Fortunately for me, she sat close to where I was standing, so me and the people around me simply ignored Doli Doli and looked at her the whole time, and she looked back at us and smiled alot.

For me,the highlight of the night was definitely the show's one ballad performance, You Must Love Me from Evita. Before she kicked it off, she made a speech about being happy to be back in Sweden after all these years and how for some reason she always ended up working with Swedes. She then went on to say that she thought we were very creative and very sexual people, who liked to party. The audience went wild at this point and she was laughing. She seemed very happy during this performance, as she couldn't stop smiling at us. She messed up with her guitar playing at one point and at the end of the following chorus she sang "you must love me... even when I play the wrong chords!". From then on, she seemed to be a bit insecure with her guitar playing and made several funny faces towards the end of the song. The audience seemed to be impressed with her singing though. She exited the stage with a big smile on her face and the political Get Stupid video interlude came on.

The last segment of the show began with 4 Minutes, which was quite well received. Personally, I think it should have swapped places with Music. The audience were in ecstacy when she started to sing Like A Prayer, which was definitely the biggest crowd pleaser that night. Her vocals were really good and the audience was singing along. She went on to perform an upbeat version of Frozen. I loved the first half of it, since it stayed true to the original version, but I wasn't too keen on the other half. However, the audience seemed to love it all.

During Ray Of Light, she had us jumping non-stop throughout the entire song. It was fun, but not as memorable as the performance of the same song during her previous tour. She closed the show with an amazing performance of Give It 2 Me, where she at one point jumped off the stage and made physical contact with her fans. The show was officially over just before midnight and the concert goers seemed to be very pleased with their concert experience as far as I could tell. Let's just hope it won't take another 19 years until she returns!

Live in Gothenburg: Latest on the Gothenburg concerts
Sticky & Sweet TourThe initial concert date in Sweden, scheduled on August 9, sold out in about 3 hours.
The additional date, August 8 went on sale on Tuesday morning at 09:00 and sold out in less than 7 hours. As with the other show, the demand was huge, but Ticnet were better prepared and things went more smoothly this time.

The additional date was not originally considered to be on her schedule, and it was not a typical move to negotiate for another show before the first one, a representative of Live Nation Sweden told Swedish newspaper Expressen, but they managed to work it out and seized the opportunity. She also said that the total amount of tickets sold (both shows combined) is 112,000!

The recommended capacity of Ullevi Stadium is 43,000 people, so it is likely that no more tickets will be released later on.
Also, a a service notice to our readers who want to see Madonna live in Scandinavia, the latest reports say that the show in Copenhagen is nearly sold out, but there are still some tickets left.

Live in Gothenburg: Second Swedish show on August 8
Sticky & Sweet TourThe Sticky & Sweet Tour does the double in Gothenburg.
Newspapers such as Expressen reported the news this morning and Live Nation Sweden also confirmef a second date at the Ullevi on Saturday, August 8, the day before the previously announced show, which sold out in just 4 hours the other day.

Tickets will go on sale next Tuesday, February 17 at 09:00 AM local.

Madonna has a history of additional tour dates being added to the existing schedule before the previously announced concerts.
The most notable episode so far was the kick off of the European leg of the Re-Invention tour in Manchester, which moved from the first show to go on sale, the one of August 15, 2004, to the day before, August 14.

Experience says this rather does the trick, as those who purchase tickets for one show can't resist to add another date the day before, while it doesn't always happen like that if the additional performance gets scheduled for the following day.

The fact the concert in Sweden was scheduled for a Saturday looked a bit "suspicious" to some - as usually Saturday night is the most comfortable date in the week for those who travel from afar. But adding a second date the night before seems to fill the gap.

Thanks to LeeAnn and to our Team member Magnus.
