M-Tribe Community member Strawbs is just back from the Sticky & Sweet show in Helsinki. He had tickets from the part of West Harbour more distant from the stage - the C section of venue - and as he says in our forum, "with 80,000 people in front of you Madonna was the size of peanut on stage. It's the first Madonna show I've ever gone too where I've had to use binaculars."
"Great show! I haven't seen the Sticky & Sweet Tour before so comparing it to Confessions she seemed to enjoy herself much more. I'm not a mad fan of the setlist. I know she is promoting Hard Candy but with an audience of 90,000 people who have never seen you before and who are mainly 30+ women it might have been nice to have a different setlist. But Madonna doesn't change setlists for singular cocnerts so this is what we got."
"I had a blast even though I didn't see much. I danced through it all and was singing happily along so that some guys turned to look at me. Everything at the venue went perfectly and there were no troubles. But it's funny to pay 100 euros to go stand outside to watch Madonna on a screen... Luckily it didn't rain."
"Jätkäsaari is located at the old harbour area. My parents have their summer house on an island about 6 km from the venue (over the sea) and my mom told me that she was sitting out in the garden listening to the show and could hear the music perfectly and Madonna singing words (and not just messy music if you get my point)."
"My favourite part was "Like a Prayer". I love that mix! Absolutely amazing. What just eats me up is that the entire audience was jumping like crazy during the song and then the atmosphere just died when the really terrible mix of "Frozen" begun!
Why oh why couldn't they have done another kick ass track instead?
And I love "Frozen" and just hated that mix."
"I also wish Madonna would have played some Confessions tracks as the album was a massive success in Finland and "Hung Up" would have really fired up the audience. I wish she would be a little more versitile and do changes in her setlists more according to the audience (Kylie has begun to do this and it really is great. Seeing 4-5 shows in a row and each feels different and personal)."
"Madonna was good with the audience - much better than during the Confessions shows that I saw - but she is still a little distant. A big venue like this with a massive audience like this would have needed a little more encouragement like "All the people in the back jump, jump!" or "You all look great/Fantastic/amazing". What ever really would have done it."
"Generally I'm happy. I have never seen this little of the actual artist as I saw of Madge today. But the sound was good, the music was great and the feeling amazing. I had fun and danced my ass off. So it was aaaallll gooooood!"
Thanks to Strawbs.

 | Live in Helsinki: More tickets for West Harbour to be released |
|
|
Up to 5,000 extra tickets are about to be made available for Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour gig in Helsinki, according to reports from local newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
"Just when you thought they were all gone (or alternatively just as you were about to sell yours for a profit), it appears that yet more tickets will be added for pop diva Madonn's August gig in Helsinki", the newspaper says.
"We are currently looking into the matter with the authorities, but I would imagine that around five thousand extra tickets will become available", estimates promoter Risto Juvonen from Live Nation.
"The concert area could hold a much larger crowd, but the entry and exit routes set the limits."
Madonna will perform in Helsinki's Jätkäsaari on August 6th. So far over 80,000 tickets have been made available for the concert, which sold out very quickly amid reports of chaos and snafus at street and online outlets. Live Nation Finland is also the promoter of another Sticky & Sweet Tour event in the Baltic country of Estonia, where Madonna will perform on August 4.

 | Live in Helsinki: La Isla Bonita |

Madonna has reportedly applied to close the seas around Helsinki, Finland so she can commandeer a small island to stage a gig for 80,000 people, the Daily Star writes today.
The Sticky & Sweet Tour visits Jatkasaari, Helsinki on August 9, and reports say the organizers have applied to officials in order to close the sea and airspace over the area to prevent ticketless fans from enjoying the spectacle for free.
"Madonna couldn't find a stadium in Finland big enough for all her fans so instead she's taking over an island. But to stop people watching from the water on boats, she and the promoters have applied to close the sea. She's also worried people will hire helicopters to watch from the sky so she wants to close the airspace over the site as well," the newspaper says quoting sources.
The Daily Star also says locals are not happy with the request and are worried about the effect the concert will have within the community.

 | Live in Helsinki: More tickets for Helsinki expected to be back on sale |
|
|
Around 2,000 tickets for the sold-out Sticky & Sweet Tour concert at the West Harbout in Helsinki - Madonna's first appearance in Finland - will be back up for sale in the next few days.
Most of the returns will be tickets in the standard C Section (general admission), but there will also be a few for Section B and the "Golden Circle" front-of-stage Section A, which were the most sought-after places when the total of around 80,000 tickets went on sale on Monday.
The tickets will be dropping back into the system because some buyers bought more than the permitted maximum of six per head. Apparently this applies to some 300 to 400 customers.
Exceptionally, the limit was also apparently imposed on company sales, thereby quashing rumours that hundreds of tickets had been swept up by firms as hospitality gifts.
If someone managed to order a dozen tickets, for example, they will be able to keep six of them, but the remainder will be withheld and their money will be returned.
When the additional tickets will be up for sale is still unclear, but it is likely to be in the next couple of days.
The actual sale on Monday was hit by technical snafus, with some customers standing in line for hours only to be met with crashed computers that blighted their chances of getting the best places.
As often happens in these cases, tickets rapidly surfaced on online auction houses, sometimes within hours or even minutes of the box office opening, and are now being touted at inflated prices.
For instance a pair of tickets for the coveted Section A were being sold on Tuesday for 1000 €. The face-value of one such ticket was 119.00 €.
This gouging has prompted a strong reaction among disappointed customers, but police have said there is little they can do to intervene in the secondary market.
The tickets do bear a text stating that resale is forbidden, but this is not based on law, and whilst the police acknowledge the immorality of the exercise, it is not a crime.
On the other hand, the tax authorities might be interested in the windfall profits accruing from such deals.
Those desperate souls who did not buy before the general sale, either through the artist's own fanclub pre-sale arrangements or via the promoters' VIP club, and who then missed out altogether on Monday, nevertheless need not resort to paying hand over fist for a chance to see Madonna.
Two days before the star comes to Helsinki, she is playing in Tallinn in Estonia, and it is expected that some 10-20,000 tickets for this gig will be reserved for Finland.
Tickets for the Tallinn concert go on sale in March.

 | Live in Helsinki: Finland sells out in three hours |
|
|
Tickets for the Sticky & Sweet Tour concert at the West Harbour in Helsinki on August 6th went on sale at 9 AM this morning and sold out within three hours.
Fans experienced serious difficulties with both telephone and on-line sales, with lines to the Lippupiste sales office jammed and some callers experiencing crossed connections. R-kiosk sales points also faced difficulties as internet ticket booking services overloaded and crashed.
A record total of 80,000 tickets for the Madonna concert went on sale this morning.
Tickets may still become available for the Helsinki stadium date, according to ticket-vendor Lippupiste, as people who disregarded the six-ticket per person reservation limit will be unable to redeem their tickets.
Lippupiste has issued a warning against buying tickets on the aftermarket. Scalpers have begun selling Sticky & Sweet concert tickets online at very high mark-ups. The company, however, says scalpers may not come into possession of the tickets they are now selling. The wheeling and dealing of Madonna concert tickets is already in full swing at the auction website huuto.net.
