On the cover of…

Not that we want to accuse her of narcissism, but Madonna is very fond of ensuring her image appears on her products. She has appeared on the front cover of each of her albums (not counting the limited editions) with the exception of:

…but as we have seen from a previous Fact – she was originally meant to be. For the purposes of logic, we will assume that that is actually her midriff and hands on the front cover of ‘Like A Prayer‘.

There have been quite a few commercial singles for which she hasn’t appeared on the front cover, but considering she has released well over 60 singles in her career, the number is still remarkably small:

• ‘Everybody‘ from 1992 (all formats released with a picture sleeve)
• ‘Holiday‘ from 1983/1985 (7″ 1983 and 12″ 1985 for the UK)
• ‘Like A Prayer‘ from 1989 (all 12″ formats)
• ‘Express Yourself‘ from 1989 (UK 7″ ‘zipper’ sleeve and US/Aus Cassette Singles)
• ‘The Holiday Collection‘ from 1991 (UK CD and Cassette EPs)
• ‘You’ll See‘ from 1995
• ‘Me Against The Music‘ from 2003 – but that’s hardly surprising!
• ‘Love Profusion‘ from 2004 (for the US, Canada, Germany and France)
• ‘Hey You‘, released as a digital single in 2007, had its own cover as well

We can assume it is her hand on the cover of the ‘Bedtime Story‘ singles and her silhouette on the cover of ‘Jump‘

Also, all of the 1989 Backtrack reissued cassette singles featured abstract designs, frequently on very early vinyl and releases from smaller territories simply slipped vinyl into plain record company die-cut sleeves, and many of the promotional items issued over the years have not featured images, just coming in abstract designs or titled sleeves.
