The First Album in Soundscan Era
Madonna -The First Album has officially reached last week the number of 400,000 copies sold in the Us since January 1991, the beginning of the Soundscan era.
SoundScan is an electronic network that collects weekly retail figures from over 17,000 music stores in Usa, including record chain stores like BestBuy and Towers. Since 1991, the Billboard charts have been based on SoundScan data. SoundScan “scan” all those “sounds” through barcodes
Madonna – The First Album has been certified 5xPlatinum=5,000,000 in the US on October 2000.
