Scotsman.com features today an article about celebrities honoured by a Blue Peter badge. This is an excerpt of what they wrote about Madonna:
“It’s one of the most exclusive clubs in the world, with members including the Queen, Hollywood heart-throb Brad Pitt, and now pop icon Madonna. It’s way more elitist than clubs such as celebrity London drinking den The Groucho or Highland hideaway Skibo Castle – for those you just need wads of cash or famous pals.
Membership to this particular club means having a nifty way with bring and buy sales, an obsession for milk bottle tops or a lucky knack for winning competitions. And being under 16 also helps.
This week, Madonna became the latest in a long line of both children and adults since 1963 to be awarded a Blue Peter badge.
The 46-year-old pop icon was handed the white shield-shaped badge with its blue ship design on Wednesday’s programme after talking to presenter Matt Baker about her fourth children’s book The Adventures of Abdi.
She clapped her hands and gushed: “I wanna be a member of the Blue Peter club! I’ve got a badge, I’ve got a badge!”
