Madonna‘s performance on September 12th in the Atlântico Pavilion, in Lisbon, is still at risk, after the Maná Curch refused to transfer their congress, scheduled for the same dates, from the Atlântico to another location. This was revealed this Tuesday, in Lisbon, by Ricardo Casimiro, from the Portuguese Promotor Tournée.
Casimiro even said that, “if she doesn’t come now, she will never come again“. An eventual cancellation of the performance will imply, also, that the Irish U2 will not play in Portugal next year, because the management company is the same.
The same responsible stated that Tournée proposed the Belém Cultural Centre, LIF and the Lisbon Congress Centre to the Maná Church as locations for their congress, having also offered to donate 25000 Euros.
Ricardo Casimiro alleged that the people in charge of the Maná Church refused all these proposals for the same dates they had set, namely the Congress Centre one, because “the space was not honourable enough;” he reminded, on the contrary, that it was there that the last European Congress of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union took place.
The promoter hopes, however, that this situation can be solved, even if it implies that the Atlântico Pavilion and Parque Expo break their contract with the Maná Church.
?The paid fees can be returned without the right to any compensation,? Ricardo Casimiro said. He considers that “the people in charge of the Atlântico Pavilion had a lack of sensibility towards the importance of the event,” as they already knew, when they signed the contract to the Maná Church on May 5th, that the singer would need the venue between September 8th and 13th.
Casimiro insisted that it was extremely important for Portugal to receive Madonna, as she also plans to record a DVD and a video here. “This would give Portugal a greater importance than the ICEP campaigns,” he highlighted. “It’s a matter of national importance. I?ll fight to my limit in order to bring Madonna to Portugal“.
Ricardo Casimiro refused to reveal details about the price of the tickets for Madonna’s concert, but he said that 19.000 people are expected to watch the performance, and that prices would be “much higher than usual“.
